Our physicians are experienced in emergency medicine, family practice, internal medicine, and occupational medicine, supported by skilled registered nurses, radiology technologists, laboratory professionals, and cross-trained medical assistants who work together to provide efficient, coordinated care.
At Washington Regional Medical Center, we believe exceptional emergency care goes beyond treating an illness or injury—it means caring for the person behind the emergency. Every decision we make is guided by compassion, clinical excellence, and a commitment to serving our community when it matters most.
Inpatient Hospital Care
Compassionate Care Throughout Your Recovery
When a hospital stay is needed, you deserve more than excellent medical care—you deserve to feel supported, respected, and cared for every step of the way. At Washington Regional Medical Center, our physicians, nurses, therapists, and healthcare professionals work together to provide personalized care in a safe, comfortable environment where healing begins with compassion.
Whether you require specialized medical treatment, surgery recovery, or 24-hour observation, our dedicated inpatient team is committed to meeting your individual healthcare needs. Every care plan is tailored to the patient, with a focus on promoting recovery, encouraging family involvement, and providing the highest quality care close to home.
From admission through discharge, our goal is to make every hospital stay as comfortable and reassuring as possible. By combining advanced medical expertise with genuine compassion, we remain committed to delivering healthcare that heals—helping our patients recover with confidence while staying close to the people and community who matter most.
Outpatient Hospital Care
Specialized Care Designed Around You
Not every healthcare need requires an overnight hospital stay. Washington Regional Medical Center provides outpatient services designed to give patients convenient access to treatment, testing, and specialty care while allowing them to return home the same day. Our team is committed to making each visit as comfortable and convenient as possible, with personalized attention and the compassion our patients expect from WRMC.
Our outpatient services include infusion therapy, podiatry (foot care), diagnostic services, and other physician-ordered outpatient treatments and procedures. By coordinating many of these services through Washington Regional Medical Center, patients can receive the care they need in a familiar setting supported by the hospital’s clinical resources and healthcare professionals.
Specialty Care Through Telehealth
WRMC is also expanding access to specialty physicians through telehealth services provided locally at the WRMC Specialty Clinic. Patients can connect with specialists through secure video technology while receiving their visit from WRMC, helping reduce the time, expense, and inconvenience of traveling long distances for specialty consultations and follow-up care.
Telehealth specialty services are currently available for Pulmonology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, and Neurology. Endocrinology services are expected to begin in December, further expanding access to specialty care for patients with diabetes, thyroid disorders, and other endocrine conditions.
Our telehealth program combines the expertise of specialty providers with the convenience and support of receiving care within your community. For many patients—particularly those who may find long-distance travel difficult—this provides an important connection to specialty healthcare while allowing them to remain near family, their primary care providers, and the healthcare team they know.
At Washington Regional Medical Center, outpatient care is about more than convenience. It is about removing barriers to care, connecting our communities with needed medical expertise, and treating every patient with compassion, dignity, and personal attention. As WRMC continues to grow, we will continue looking for new ways to bring high-quality services and specialty care to the people and communities we serve.
Lab Services
Accurate Answers. Faster Care. Greater Peace of Mind.
When your healthcare depends on laboratory testing, you deserve results you can trust. At Washington Regional Medical Center, our CLIA-certified Laboratory Department provides accurate, timely testing that helps physicians diagnose illnesses, monitor treatment, and make informed medical decisions—so you can begin the right care as quickly as possible.
Our laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by highly trained, board-certified laboratory professionals dedicated to delivering precise, reliable results. Many routine tests are completed the very same day, helping reduce wait times and allowing your healthcare team to begin treatment sooner whenever possible.
For your convenience, laboratory services are available both inside Washington Regional Medical Center and at Plymouth Primary Care Clinic. Our full-service laboratory performs a wide range of diagnostic testing, including microbiology, clinical chemistry, special chemistry, blood banking, urinalysis, serology, hematology, and coagulation testing. To ensure patients have access to the most comprehensive testing available, we also partner with trusted organizations including Greenville Pathology and LabCorp.
At Washington Regional Medical Center, we continually invest in advanced laboratory technology and modern diagnostic equipment to provide the highest level of precision and quality. Every test we perform supports one goal: giving patients and their healthcare providers the trusted information they need to make confident decisions and deliver healthcare that heals.
Radiology
Advanced Imaging. Exceptional Precision. Trusted Answers.
When you need answers, every image matters. At Washington Regional Medical Center, our Radiology Department combines advanced diagnostic technology with compassionate care to help physicians diagnose conditions quickly, accurately, and confidently. From routine imaging to complex diagnostic studies, our experienced team is dedicated to providing a comfortable experience while delivering the information your healthcare provider needs to guide your care.

Leading the Region in Advanced CT Imaging
Washington Regional Medical Center is proud to offer one of the region’s most advanced diagnostic imaging systems with our 128-slice Computed Tomography (CT) scanner. This cutting-edge technology captures highly detailed images in seconds, allowing physicians to detect injuries, disease, and other medical conditions with remarkable speed and precision.
Compared to earlier CT technology, our 128-slice scanner provides patients with significant advantages, including:
- Exceptional image clarity for more accurate diagnoses.
- Rapid scan times that improve comfort and reduce the need to remain still.
- Reduced radiation exposure whenever clinically appropriate.
- Outstanding imaging for trauma, stroke, cardiac, vascular, and emergency patients, where every minute counts.
- Improved imaging for children, older adults, and patients who may have difficulty remaining still.
This advanced technology allows patients throughout our region to benefit from sophisticated diagnostic imaging that is often associated with much larger medical centers—bringing exceptional capabilities to the communities we proudly serve.
Expert Interpretation. Timely Results.
Every imaging study is interpreted by board-certified radiologists from Eastern Radiologists, Inc. in Greenville, North Carolina. In most cases, reports are returned to your healthcare provider within one hour, helping physicians make timely decisions and begin treatment as quickly as possible.
Our Radiology Department offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging services, including 128-slice CT, digital X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and other advanced imaging studies. We welcome both STAT and routine referrals, with same-day appointments available in many cases.
At Washington Regional Medical Center, we believe advanced technology is most meaningful when it improves the lives of our patients. By combining leading-edge imaging with compassionate care and experienced professionals, we provide physicians with the answers they need and patients with the confidence they deserve.

Pharmacy
Safe Medication Management. An Important Part of Your Care.
Medications play an important role in the treatment and recovery of many hospitalized patients. At Washington Regional Medical Center, our inpatient Pharmacy Services team works closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to help ensure medications are provided safely, accurately, and appropriately throughout a patient’s hospital stay.
From reviewing medication orders and verifying dosages to helping ensure medications are available when needed, our pharmacy professionals provide an important layer of safety behind the care our patients receive every day.
Supporting Safe and Effective Patient Care
Our inpatient pharmacy team supports patient care through services that include:
- Medication Order Review — Reviewing and verifying medication orders for appropriate dosing, potential interactions, allergies, and other medication-safety considerations.
- Medication Distribution — Managing and supplying medications needed for patients receiving care within the hospital.
- Medication Inventory Management — Maintaining appropriate medication supplies throughout the hospital, including medications needed to support routine, acute, and emergency patient care.
- Clinical Collaboration — Working with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support appropriate medication therapy and patient safety.
- Medication Safety — Helping identify potential medication-related concerns and supporting safe medication practices throughout the hospital.
Working Together for Our Patients
Pharmacy Services is an important part of the coordinated care provided at Washington Regional Medical Center. Although patients may not always meet the pharmacy professionals working behind the scenes, their expertise supports physicians, nurses, and other members of the clinical team throughout a patient’s hospital stay.
This collaborative approach helps support the safe and appropriate use of medications while ensuring that the clinical care team has access to the medications needed to care for our patients.
Inpatient Pharmacy Services
Washington Regional Medical Center’s Pharmacy Department provides pharmacy services for patients receiving care within the hospital. WRMC currently does not operate a retail or outpatient pharmacy and does not fill prescriptions for the general public.
When a patient is discharged, prescriptions intended for use at home may be sent to or filled by the patient’s pharmacy of choice, as appropriate.
At Washington Regional Medical Center, medication safety is another important part of our commitment to providing dependable, patient-centered care to the community we serve.

Patient Services & Amenities
Caring for You Beyond Your Medical Needs
At Washington Regional Medical Center, we believe healing involves more than excellent medical care. Creating a welcoming, comfortable environment for our patients and their families is an important part of the healing process. From convenient dining options to communication services that help you stay connected with loved ones, we’re committed to making your stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Patient Dining
Good nutrition plays an important role in recovery. To provide greater flexibility and comfort during your hospital stay, Washington Regional Medical Center is introducing “At Your Request” Room Service, allowing patients to enjoy freshly prepared, made-to-order meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at times that work best for them.
A Room Service Menu is typically provided upon admission. If one is not available in your room, simply ask your nurse for a copy.
Your physician may prescribe a special diet based on your medical condition, treatment plan, or recovery needs. Our nursing staff and dietary team are happy to help you understand any dietary restrictions and assist you in selecting meals that support your recovery while still offering satisfying choices.
Telephones & Television
Staying connected with family and friends can make your hospital stay more comforting. Most patient rooms are equipped with telephones and televisions to help you remain connected and entertained during your recovery.
Each room telephone is assigned its own direct extension. Family and friends may reach patients by calling 252-793-4135 and following the hospital’s patient information process.
If you prefer additional privacy, your room telephone can be routed to the nurses’ station or temporarily disabled. Simply let your nurse know your preference. Please do not unplug the telephone, as it is part of the hospital’s communication system.
Patients may place local outgoing calls by dialing 9, followed by the area code and telephone number.
To ensure every patient can communicate comfortably, telephone amplifiers are available for individuals with hearing difficulties, and Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) services are also available upon request.
Our Commitment to Your Comfort
Every detail of your stay matters. From nutritious meals and comfortable accommodations to thoughtful amenities and compassionate caregivers, our goal is to provide an environment where you can focus on what matters most—healing.
At Washington Regional Medical Center, we’re committed to caring for the whole person, making every effort to ensure that patients and their families feel welcomed, supported, and cared for throughout their healthcare journey.
